Barbicide origins were back in 1947 when a science teacher concocted the disinfectant solution that is known as the crystal blue clean in barber and salons all over the world. This science teacher was determined to create a higher standard for sanitation, and was able to eliminate germs from combs, razors and other tools of the trade that hadn't been able to be done before. The Barbicide blue colour had several advantages, firstly you were able to see the colour and it kept its colour over time, unlike most of the other disinfectants at that time. Secondly customers were able to see the colour, which was another plus side. In 1988, Ben King took his fathers invention and extended the Barbicide brand and product offerings, now including disinfecting jars.
